Training Agency

We are continually up-dating and revising the training packages that we offer, and are hoping to add further packages to our programme later in the year.

All of our training sessions comprise a variety of activities with high levels of participation and opportunities to explore issues, including practical exercises, group discussions and self-reflection.

All events are open to individuals, groups, organisations, businesses — large and small, in fact everyone.

The training courses are offered in several venues across Wales, and can also be provided ‘in-house’ at a daily rate of £600 (£300 ½ day).

If you would like further information on any of our packages or if you feel that you or your organisation may benefit from one or more of the courses we offer please do not hesitate to contact us.

Brief Outlines:

Diversity

This is a one day course, to enable participants to become aware of the potential differences and similarities of people from different diverse and cultural backgrounds. By the end of the course participants will have become more aware of what diversity means and recognise good practice with regards to diversity in the workplace. It will allow for the participant to understand their own role and responsibilities in relation to diversity, explore attitudes, and be prepared for the changes that will accompany greater diversity.

Equal Opportunities

A one-day course to enable participants to explore what ‘equal opportunities’ means, discuss issues of equality, and raise awareness of attitudes. The course will give participants an overview of the legislation surrounding equal opportunities; understand the importance of having an equal opportunities policy, and the benefits to both the organisation and the organisation’s employees that come from putting these policies into action.

Assertiveness Skills

This half-day course was initially developed to empower disabled people, but would benefit anyone wanting to develop these skills. It gives participants an opportunity to recognise and begin to use assertive behaviour. It aims to develop participants active listening skills; identify the differences between assertive, aggressive and passive behaviour; provide participants with an opportunity to recognise their current and potential leadership style within an organisation; and to develop an assertiveness agenda for themselves.

Mentoring Skills

This one day course gives participants the opportunity to look at how to develop and implement a mentoring system, and the benefits to both the individual and the organisation in having such a system. Participants will explore what effective mentoring is, its purpose, the skills and qualities that are required by mentors, and relevant tools and techniques to be able to make the most of mentoring systems.

Disability Equality (full day)

A one day course that looks at the legislation surrounding disability issues, from the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, through to the Disability Equality Duty for Public Bodies. Alongside this we outline and explore attitudes and perceptions, the Social Model of disability, language & terminology, and various case studies.

Disability Equality (1/2 day)

This course provides a brief outline of the legislation surrounding disability issues (not as in-depth as full day course). It provides an insight into disability etiquette, raises awareness of the barriers to social inclusion, explores attitudes and identifies language & terminology, and general behaviour. Ensuring that disability rights and social inclusion are to the forefront when planning service provision, employment, activities and events.

We do value both disability equality packages, if you wanted any more information on either of the courses then do contact us – The full day course is aimed at managers, policy implementers etc., whereas the 1/2 day course we recommend for all staff, especially front of house staff, and staff who engage with disabled people on a day to day basis. Both courses are Social Model based and delivered by disabled people.
